In Silico Analysis of Tandem Repeats in GIF of Gastric Parietal Cells-formatted
نویسنده
چکیده
Tandem repeats are ubiquitous in the genome of organisms and their mutated forms play a vital role in pathogenesis. In this study, tandem repeats in Gastric Intrinsic Factor (GIF) of gastric parietal cells have been investigated using an in silico approach. Six types of the nucleotide tandem repeat motifs have been investigated, including mono-, di-, tri-, tetra-, pentaand hexanucleotide. The distribution of the repeat motifs in the gene was analyzed. The results of this study provide an insight into the biomolecular mechanisms and pathogenesis implicated by the GIF of gastric parietal cells. Based on the findings of the tandem repeats in GIF of gastric parietal cells, therapeutic strategies and disease markers may be developed accordingly by the biomedical scientists. VNTR9 and VNTR10, two newly-found variable-number tandem repeat loci useful in MLVA genotyping of Bordetella pertussis
Background & Aims: Bordetella pertussis, the causative agent of whooping cough, continues to infect human hosts even in those populations where infants and children are routinely vaccinated. Causes of pertussis epidemiology are not fully identified unless strains of the pathogen are characterized by molecular means. Golbally, Multi Locus Variable Number of Tandem Repeats analysis (MLVA) has pro...
متن کاملافزایش خطر ابتلا به سرطان معده با چند شکلی VNTR ژن SIRT3
Background and purpose: Gastric cancer is the most common cancer associated with high mortality worldwide. One of the genes that is down-regulated in gastric cancer, is the SIRT3 that encodes the histone deacetylase enzyme. There is a variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) polymorphism in the intron 5 of SIRT3 gene and evidence shows that expression of SIRT3 gene increases by increase in the numb...
متن کاملMolecular Genetic Analysis of the Variable Number of Tandem-Repeat Alleles at the Phenylalanine Hydroxylase Gene in Iranian Azeri Turkish Population
Background: The variable numbers of tandem-repeat (VNTR) alleles at the phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) gene have been used in carrier detection and prenatal diagnosis in phenylketonuria families. This study was carried out to analyze VNTR alleles at the PAH gene in Iranian Azeri Turkish population. Methods: In this study, 200 alleles from general population were studied by PCR. Results: The fr...
متن کاملSegmental Duplications as a Complement Strategy to Short Tandem Repeats in the Prenatal Diagnosis of Down Syndrome
Background: Quantitative fluorescence-polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR) is an inexpensive and accurate method for the prenatal diagnosis of aneuploidies that applies short tandem repeats (STRs) as a chromosome-specific marker. Despite its apparent advantages, QF-PCR is not applicable in all cases due to the presence of uninformative STRs. This study was carried out to investigate the efficienc...
متن کاملSpectrum of Phenylalanine Hydroxylase Gene Mutations in Hamadan and Lorestan Provinces of Iran and Their Associations with Variable Number of Tandem Repeat Alleles
Phenylketonuria (PKU) is one of the most common known inherited metabolic diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the status of molecular defects in phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) gene in western Iranian PKU patients (predominantly from Kermanshah, Hamadan, and Lorestan provinces) during 2014-2016. Additionally, the results were compared with similar studies in Iran. Nucleotide sequen...
